In the book Platform by Michael Hyatt he talks about creating a consistent brand across all your various properties. I just had the DonLoper.com blog redesigned, so now is the perfect time for me to update everything else. I started with my Twitter page:

I like my Mao-Get-To-Work background, and it seemed especially relevant now that I’m living in China, but it didn’t match this website and probably wasn’t the most professional face to put forward. Now I have a Twitter page that matches this website so that when someone goes from one to the other there is no disconnect–they know where they are, and they don’t have to wonder if they somehow clicked through to the wrong place.
As with Twitter, my profiles for Google+ and Medium have also been updated to be consistent.
Update 05-Aug-2013: I’ve also started separating my personal social media profiles from business profiles. Instead of directing people to my personal Facebook page, I’ve set up a Don Loper FB page. That way I can maintain brand consistency and keep my person life separate from the public.
