If you’re looking for a book coach to make writing, publishing, and leveraging your book easy, you’ve come to the right place. But first, let me tell you a story…(unless you want to jump straight to how to hire me)
Once upon a time, on a dark night during a cold cold winter in Utah, the pipes in our house froze. When we woke up in the morning, the sinks wouldn’t run. The shower wouldn’t turn on. The toilets wouldn’t refill.
For two hours, I tried to fix the problem, but not knowing much about plumbing, I eventually gave up and called a plumber and paid an extra fee for him to rush over.
He arrived and I showed him to our basement. He looked at the pipes for a moment and then showed me how an air intake was blowing cold air right on them. He twisted the air intake so it wasn’t blowing directly on the pipes. Then he tapped on one of the pipes with a wrench. I could hear the ice immediately break up and the water running through the pipe. He then charged me $80 for one minute of work, an effective rate of $4,800 per hour.
I could have said “What?! $80 for a minute of work?!” but I wasn’t just paying him for his time. I was paying him for the years of experience that taught him how to fix the problem in one minute. I was also paying him to save me another two hours of my own time and the risk that perhaps I would break something.
Book Coaching
As a book coach to executives and entrepreneurs, I leverage my experience to save you time, money, and hassle.
Instead of it taking five years to write and publish your book, I’ll help you get it done in one year.
Instead of spending money on the wrong things and then having to spend it all over again on the right things, I’ll help you spend your money on the right things the first time.
Instead of getting overwhelmed with the hundreds of moving parts involved in writing, publishing, and marketing a book, I’ll take care of everything for you other than the parts where your involvement is essential.
The end result is your target audience reading your book and taking the action you want them to take, all because you created the right book, the right way.
Who am I?
You can read the real long version here, but the short story is that in addition to being a book coach, I’m a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, public speaker, and entrepreneur, but in reverse order.
I grew up starting and running businesses, but it wasn’t until I was in college in 1999 that I started my first “real” business, my marketing agency MWI, which now has offices in Phoenix, Arizona and Hong Kong.
In 2013, I was invited to write a column for Forbes, which opened the door for me to write hundreds of articles in more than two dozen publications like TIME, Inc., Fortune, Mashable, TechCrunch, and Fast Company.
Writing for these publications led to invitations to speak at one of the largest TEDx events in the world, in Hong Kong, and other venues in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, China, Dubai, Australia, the UK, and across the United States.
My writing and speaking led to a book deal with a traditional imprint and the publication of Chief Marketing Officers at Work, which includes fly-on-the-wall perspectives from the CMOs at companies like Target, Spotify, PayPal, The Home Depot, and GE.
Over the years I’ve written more books and started more companies, like BlueMethod, a LinkedIn agency, Canvas PR, a PR firm, and AuthorVoice, a podcast management agency for nonfiction authors. Most relevant is Published Author, a training and support company that helps entrepreneurs write and publish how-to business books they can leverage to grow their businesses. Through Published Author, I’ve worked with over seventy entrepreneurs to assist them on their author journey.
I also created The 7 Systems of Influence framework, which I use to coach leaders of all types, but especially entrepreneur-authors, on how to create content that will appeal to the right audience the right way and generate the right action.
Who I Work With
I’m a book coach to high-performance entrepreneurs who want to become authors of nonfiction, how-to business books.
I work primarily with entrepreneurs who operate businesses with revenues of $100M or more (but I have options to fit everyone, so keep reading). These are entrepreneurs who have important experience and wisdom to share but cannot be distracted from their core business enough to learn all the ins and outs of how to write, publish, and market a book. My clients often say something to me like, “Can you just do everything for me?”
Yes, just about everything. And if my team and I can’t do, or aren’t the best to do it, we can refer you to partners or be a point of contact for them.
How to Work With Me
I offer one-off book coaching calls for the occasional question or if you need help getting through a tough patch, as well as long-term engagements to take you from “I want to write a book, but I’m not sure what to write or how to get started,” to published author.
No matter whether it’s a one-off call or the full-service book coaching, I will help you to:
- Define your vision and goals.
- Discover your “genius zone,” the experience, skills, and characteristics that will help you craft a successful book.
- Identify your ideal audience.
- Craft messaging to describe your book that will hook your audience’s attention, and incorporate this messaging into a working title and subtitle.
- Create a plan for writing, publishing, and marketing your book, whether it’s to be self published or go through a traditional publisher.
One-Off, Book-Coaching Calls
If you want to jump on a coaching call from time to time, as needed, you can book me for 50 minutes at a time (an initial 20-minute call is free, sign up for that here).
I can help you answer questions like:
“What book should I write?”
“How do I get started?”
“Should I write this myself or hire a ghostwriter? How do I hire a ghostwriter? Which ghostwriter should I hire?”
“Should I self-publish or get a publisher? How do I do that?”
“Wait, I need a literary agent to get a publisher? How do I do that?!”
When you’re getting started writing your book, there are so many questions. Writing, publishing, and marketing a book involves hundreds of moving parts, and “writing it” is just one of them.

Full-Service Book Coaching
This is the “everything” package. It can run as high as $350,000 depending on the details, so it’s not for the faint-of-heart, but if you want someone to take care of literally everything for you, get it done at the highest level of quality, and get it done right while minimizing the time you have to be involved, then this is what you need.
If you’re asking, “But does it include…?” then the answer is “Yes, it does,” but to be more specific, some of the larger deliverables are:
- Strategy
- Author platform building
- Ghostwriting
- Editing
- Proofreading
- Cover design
- Interior design
- Production (hardcover, softcover, audiobook, and ebook)
- Distribution
- Bestseller service (guaranteed bestseller status in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today)
- Amazon Ads management
- Book PR in major publications
Investment: Starts at $120,000 for one year of coaching. Additional fees apply depending on exact mix of services desired.
The first step is to book a call with me so we can see if we’re the right fit to work together.

“This is too expensive for me, what else do you have?”
Is “free” affordable enough? My company, Published Author, hosts a free weekly book coaching group as well as a more structured mastermind, which is limited to 10 aspiring author-entrepreneurs. We meet each week (via Zoom) to hold each other accountable, keep your book on track, answer all your questions, answer the questions you didn’t even know you had, and get your book across the finish line by the end of the year.
Still Not Sure?
As a potential client told me the other day, “I’m looking for a one-stop shop that can get everything done for me the right way, the first time, and I want the best of everything.”
That’s what I do.
Are you ready? What would it mean to your career, business, or legacy to write a bestselling business book? What kind of ROI could it provide for your business? How many lives could you impact?
If you want more information or you’re ready to get started, let’s talk. The first call is free.
